Achal Chaurasia

When 29 year old medical resident Achal Chaurasia from Bhopal read ‘Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness” by Mark Twain, a statement so simple and yet so profound and this is exactly what it did to his life. From a very young age traveling to various cities had excited him. Being in a small town the perspective of big city was alluring and this is exactly what he set his mind to while growing up. He opted to earn his degree in science though he always felt a deep seated tug to free travel bug within him.
It was while he was in his residency training in one of the renowned hospital in Mumbai he decided to explore his deep seated interest that was calling out to him. He would usually volunteer for medical camp projects that were usually set in various rural areas of India. It is here that Achal Chaurasia decided that he would like to set a mobile medical van that would travel across countries and offer general medical services to the people of that region. He says that he is extremely fortunate to be a part of such like-minded people and is extremely humbled by the experience that he has gained in the past year. The team members do admit that it has been tough multiple times to keep their mission going due to lack of funds and have struggled to keep afloat even with basic amenities. However, they are quick to acknowledge the great help that have gained time and time again through the platform of social media. All thanks to the enthusiasm of Achal Chaurasia who set up a Facebook page for their organisation and as the awareness of their project spread they were able to reach out to thousands of people and many appeared as Samaritans who were able to help that has resulted to keep their project going for more than a year he reminisces with gratitude.
